It was cloudy and windy so conditions were challenging; the course was covered in leaves in spite of the best efforts of the green staff and the greens were recovering from hollow tyning. There was a good turnout for our last round of the year and sights were set on those still in contention. In the event, in spite of negative handicaps a winner emerged! Before that though, winner this week with a creditable 41 points was Jonathan Denton followed by David Fineberg (well done although he would have had the biggest cut of the season, -10), Paddy Farrell playing off -3 and Mark Andrews with 37 playing off -1. Ever generous contributors were Olies Doorstop and the popular blues singer from the Yardbirds, Wooked, Short-rations and - apparently for the first time ever - Cock-and-bluster. This year's champion will be announced at the dinner next week, 6.30 for 7 pm. His handicap came down 10 this year so the achievement is notable. Please come to the dinner if you can as it is the first one for a couple of years and there will be much to discuss. |
