The weather was cloudy with a persistent cold wind from the East which kept shorts away apart from the Secretary Bird who wore his with fetching matching knee supports. It was good to see the Sandman back having suffered some trivial leg injury, probably from being kicked by a horse. It should be mentioned that the Newtes were out in force with Tom getting a hole in one at the 6th and getting all the birdie money. Winner was JJ Poole with 38 points from Will (Newtes), Phil Contreas (lots of those in the news too), Michael Bird and Brian Trickey (loser to winner in two weeks). It should be noted that there seems to be some massaging of handicaps going on but it is expensive! Losers were Koboshed, unbonded, Robert Contrawise, The Accosta (formerly bellowing 'not paid'), Phil Newtes, caught-short and gone-south-west-east-north. Of interest to those who have won money, there is now a box behind the bar with envelops and a book to sign, acknowledging receipt. There is also going to be an away day at Exeter Golf and Country Club on Fri 12 August costing £36 including a bacon roll on arrival. If you are interested, see Jim Nation or Graham Adams. |
