The weather was fine, cloudy with a NE wind. The course is now in excellent condition with the greens running true and faster with no adverse comments from the Bleating Bush Warbler. The swifts were off early, spotting the Glossy Ibis and Speckled Mousebird having a crafty few holes before starting but wasting energy looking for worms and bugs (or a lob wedge later found in his bag). The Tawny-flanked Prinia (S>Sully) won with 40 points in spite of a negative handicap, followed by Mossie (Joff) with 38 and three birdies (back to this year's theme then) and C.Smith, the Hamerkop, successful with his anvil. The Bush Blackcap has been doing well recently with his new headgear but The Secretary Bird (J.Andrews) has not translated his ref skills onto the course, buying the crisps again. Your editor also understands that the Myna bird (C.Pitman) dug a hole for himself by missing a 6 inch putt, presumably by going for the wrong hole? The cards were abysmal this week - give the Secretary Bird a break guys! |
