It was a lovely day with a breeze, clouds and sun; Pickarage bunkers and slow greens need comments to those responsible. Firstly, the Swifts were overtaken by the Ferrari (the Reverand Oxslip - 2 people) but blue smoke billowed from the exhaust as a nasty thin and a wild slice slowed the overtaken to a crawl. The Pitman was spotted in the pit by the 11th tee, pick(?) swinging, looking at finding balls but not his own; as the hulligan had been hitting balls into the thickest rough with gay abandon (Stonewall not withstanding), the site was a welcome relief. The winner was Mark Andrews with 43 points from Kelvin (of the Ferrari), Tom Newnes (quiet this year) and Richard Harman on count back. Thoughtful contributors were the slightly battered 'good-looking-one', clapped-out (a cricketing term), dawdling, not a good win, and the Smiths (a famous band apparently). The final accounts have been submitted to the club with almost everyone paying in cash but next week it's all cash. Prizes are now back to brown envelopes although crisp buying will be done by extraction from the bar account as happened previously. |
