The weather was just about perfect with little wind, some sun and warm; the course is in good nick so all was well. The Road Runner and Glossy Ibis played so early that it is a wonder that the sun had come up. The Swifts followed but could only see a trail of dust. The Bush Blackcap was first with 39 points which goes to show that hats can make a difference. The Red-capped Crombek (C.Chetzoy) was second followed by the Orange-throated Longclaw and the Serinus Scotops (McRemainer). Giving us sustenance were the White-browed Scrub Robin, the Chanting Goshawk, the Blue Crane and our own Secretary Bird. As a point of golfing philosophy, it is possible to hit two drivers into the trees at the first and then hole out with a wedge from 100 yards. Of course, the gods will get you back with a wild high drive out of bounds at the 18th for a final 6. Another day out of the office! |
