Weather was grey, light wind with threat of rain. Course was damper and the ball prepared to stop, sometimes unexpectedly. There was an impressive turnout, not only by the main contenders but also by the loyal journeymen who fund the contenders! The committee were also present and playing, not to mention very involved in buying the crisps - shouldn't be allowed but will need a rule change. Woody sported his new Titleist cap, courtesy of bulk buying pro v1s but it has to be said that he looked better in his trilby. A serious Crispy standoff was narrowly avoided with Pops standing in the middle of the 5th fairway with Bru preparing to drive. The ball sailed over his head so he had obviously been watching the local pheasants and realised that they were seldom hit if standing on the intended aim line. He was congratulated on his incredible courage! Stuart Sully cantered home 1st with a spectacular back nine (23 points) from Andy Smith, Geoff Tyler (will he be back next year) and Pops himself. Dennis Breakwell only played 8 holes, scoring (he said) 23 points and so would have won at that rate with 51 points, so hard luck Den! Mr President would not accept that reasoning. |
