It was the sort of day that had many Crispies melting in their shoes with temperatures over 30 (centigrade). If that wasn't enough, the greens were funerial and it is disappointing that we may have to fight that one again after the upset a few years ago. It was a nice day though with plenty of smiles and lots of Crispies around the clubhouse. Strangely most of the 2s came from players not otherwise scoring well; The most notable was from 'dead-eye' Denton (so he said) with a magnificent second shot at 18 straight into the hole - speculation was that it was thinned from the rough and bounced off a springler head but who knows?! Winner with 41 was Mark Andrews, cut4, from Matt Contreras, Andy Smith, Ken Reid and Paul Godwin. Helping us with free crisps were the Locksmith (again), the broom heather (clue is in the putter), Masticator, the vicar, the Sandman (again), ex-scuse-me (again) and the Trickster. For those interested, the prize money was 30, 20, 18, 11, 5 and the 2s got 4.20. The details are on the noticeboard in the mens' changing room. The club have been encourage to do specials on Wednesday evening for us so let us hope that goes well. |
