Thank goodness that the temperature had dropped and there was even misty rain from time to time; the greens were a touch receptive and running well; shame about some of the bunkers! The scoring was excessive with the average 34. Crispies were still coming into the car park late- in fact, Birdy had conducted meetings at work, making colleagues stand throughout and not allowing any discussion in order to get onto the first tee breathing easily; unlike last week, when he was literally running onto his first shot. Forget any scores under 41, the winner was John Snell with 42 on count back from Kelvin Oxley (cut 7), then a flurry with the Editor (had put a card in), Roger Wallbutton and Malcolm Lawrence (Hee-hee). Sore losers, some 28s, were The Secretary Bird, cockup, hit-an-iceberg, not-in-the-hole (a McIlroy), El Presidente, stick-to-billiards and a-damp-day. An amazing day of golf which probably reflected watching The Open. It perhaps needs noting that 41 Crispies played and there were only 22 in the TUAP. |
