It was wet, blustery and still bumpy and hard although the greens were fast and true. Scoring was bound to be hard with not a 2 in sight (or site). As a story of note, yours truly hit a wonderful 8 iron onto the 16th where it bounced off the green and into the back of the bunker. An impossible shot out hit the flagstick and unluckily riccoched onto the far side slope. An amazing pitch landed softly on the green, hit the flagstick and went in for a 3. (All descriptions could be biased). Amazing scores to win were Chris Pitman with 38 followed by Michael Bird, Kelvin Oxley and Kevin O'Brien. There was intense competition for the crisps with Martin Hogan easily winning with 18 from Chris Chetzoy, Graham Adams and Oliver Yarde. The Sandman is still in single figures and the Mad Hatter has a double - someone wearing the same hat! Next week is the AGM... |
