| A lovely dry autumn day with an easterly wind. A good Crispy turnout with a vicious dogfight for crisp buying. In spite of a great 3, 3 start and 3 finish, the Blue-billed Firefinch was unable to make any inroads on your editor with both being truly horrendous and astounded at not buying the crisps which went to the always immaculate Broadbilled Roller, a new entry, the Fantail Cisticola (S.Cording), the Bar-tailed Godwit (again!) and the Red-capped Crombek. The Clapper Lark (M.Lawrence) won on count back from the Glossy Ibis, then the Corncrake and the Bush Blackcap. The Glossy Ibis has now overtaken the Road Runner who has had to slow considerably to allow people to catch up. The mathematics are now interesting as a score of 35 for the Road Runner would produce a tie. Next week is the last event of this year so great things are expected. |
