A wind from the NE with torrential rain forecast which did turn up after 4 pm. It was a day when only the tough turned out plus the professor and your editor (who didn't see the rain). Some way after us (about 8 holes), those that had held us up last week tried to catch us but we didn't hear a catcall all afternoon. Reports came in about 9 irons sailing over greens (on the rain?), horseshoeing balls which sounds counter-productive and 3 and 4 putts. Our very own Ali and Tricks made clever moves to increase their handicaps as we gallop to the climax of the season. Your very own editor won with hardly a ball dropped down the trouser leg; Pops was second and the pugilist pipped on the back nine to third; the beach-coomber was fourth. Well done, us toughies! |
