It was a cloudy day, almost threatening rain and the temperature was pleasant rather than warm. The course was still hard and the greens running true. Crispys were playing from around 2 pm until late with the swifts coming in last as the light turned dimsy. Nat Pepperel won in spite of an handicap of -3 with 39 points from Malcolm Lawrence, Oliver Yarde and Stuart Sully (all familiar names these days). There was intense competition for the crisps with David Fineberg putting in a rare appearance to support Chris Hole (burdened after winning last week with a handicap of -4), Stuart Ling and our own special Presidente. There was light on the horizon as Kobe Adams was wearing a florescent pinkish shirt which gave his position away on a variety of fairways, not necessarily where he was supposed to be! Also of note, was the Sandman (Alan Shire) splashing out of a bunker at the 15th with great style. All that practice is obviously paying off? |
