The weather was fine if a little breezy. The course was hard, bumpy and lush. The Bleating-bush Warbler had recovered from a bruised wing but was beaten into 3rd place by the Golden Oriole, and the Drakensberg Siskin. The Rockjumper (C.Pitman) was 4th. The battle of the crisps is hotting up with some truly fiersome scores led by the Tailorbird (A.Taylor), then the Glossy Ibis in a resplendent luminous green outfit, the Red-billed Oxpecker (again), the African Marsh Harrier (with its peculiar cry of 'av-u-pade?') and our own Secretary Bird who seems intent on breaking Dusty Miller's record. Some might remember that Dusty was cut 8 shots once his handicap had been positioned for a big win. *** The website handicaps are now accurate and it would be useful if cards were filled in to reflect club and crispy handicaps. |
