Cloudy and warm with a significant breeze meant the playing was a bit of a challenge but average was 32. There were some queries about club throwing which (apparently) can be caused from bad drives and hitting into the water; if tempted, normally throw in direction of travel except if faced by water. The day, for the Swifts, started when Paul Godwin (normally a nice mild-mannered Crispy) shelling them whilst they were on the first tee - they were swift after that! Winner this week was John Snell with 42 (although he was masquerading as a dental hygenist in his white shirt), Oli Yarde, Oli Dawson, Harvey Morris and Graham Adams. Kindly contributing were The Locksmith (with a nice bonus), Horse-whisperer, not-holed-out, Masquerading, Pitiful, must-have-been-short-putt, and the slightly battered good-looking-one. As the club will not help with the collection and distribution of money after this month, we are reverting to the old method of putting cards and money into the tankard. We nearly got there this week. This does encourage people to sit and chat in the clubhouse and, of course, for those who like cash, prizes will be dished out in the old way. |
