After torrential rain on Tuesday, it was a miracle that the course was playable but there were only 5 temporary greens with 17 in-play. After a morning of agonising, the event was played with scores being high because 12a attracted the stroke index of 17 so the average was 34 and scoring 31 attracted buying the crisps. It has to be said that winners were those who had crispy shots apart from the winner who had raised his handicap in a qualifying competition. Playing with the swifts obviously calmed his nerves (?) as Harvey Morris won by a canter with 45 points in spite of throwing the 15th. Following morosely were Keiren Chaffer, Martin Hogan and Roy Miller. In the supporting role were buried, combover, a junior lesser-son Lawrence, bafflin, thoroughlybad (again) and wideboy. To give more details, the Crispy away day will be on Friday 15 September at Stover with a limit of 40 people including our Pro, Jason. Cost including bacon baps and a meal afterwards, Crispy entry fee will be £51 payable up front. We will start taking names in mid-July. |
