It was sun, cloud and intermittent short rain bursts with wind from the west. With a ladies society plonked on our normal start times, the Crispies were spread to the four winds with some playing as late as 6 pm - maybe the clubhouse stayed open? There was also a reduced field and the scores were lower than usual with 30 being the average. Winner this week with 36 points, everyone on count-back, was Paddy Farrell, followed by John Snell, Ryan Aspinall and Tony Biggs. As usual, the scrap to buy the crisps was ferocious with unharmonious, chastened (again), uneminent, dusted (very unlucky with two other 26s missing out), oxslip and unfrocked filling the slots to pay. Someone is thoughtfully dumping all their loose change in the pot which is a little tedious for those trying to distribute it back to the deserving - perhaps they might think again? |
