It was a fairly gloomy day which got colder; sad, because the course was in fine fettle. There were several out early with the swifts trotting along before they were caught by the Red Rocket (see later) and Etrigan the Demon, who, as might be expected, smashed his tee shot towards the said swifts, chipped onto the green and holed for a par! One swift, your own editor, duly applauded, before holing his own putt for a 2 - but no comment from the Demon! Elsewhere, the Joker (Brian Trickey) and the Locksmith (Steve Coomber) were heard laughing hysterically as one of our new members Alan 'Sandy' Shire visited most of the bunkers on the course. Gary Wide (the Red Rocket) won with 40 points from George Lee, Andy Smith (again!) and Glynn Webber. In the crisps were Sandy Shire, your own editor, the Demon, Stuart Ling and the Treasurer (aka Colossal Boy). Some of the boys had snuck off to Spain, perhaps to avoid the weather, although the rumour was 50th birthday - congrats, off course! |
