The weather was overcast and, since there had been much rain, the ground was soft; greens had been hollow tyned which made putting challenging so any 2s were either lucky or required great skill! Keiren Chaffer has followed in the footsteps of the great Tommy Bolt and the editor in becoming a club thrower; he's obviously a bit of an apprentice as he lost his driver in a tree at the 17th and must remember to 'throw in direction of travel rather than randomly. The winner was Mark Andrews with 40 points (his h/c has come down 6 shots this year), then John Parsons, Steve Coomber with 35 points (cut 5 shots) and Andy Smith with 33 on count back who was very distressed to find that he was cut 3 shots (editor's commiserations). In the losers' enclosure were The Secretary Bird, the belt man, Chastened (see above), Lost-in-Wookey, and Oxslipped. Of more importance, the Crispy Dinner will be on Wed 3 Nov, 6.30 for 7 pm. Could you give your name to Jim Nation if interested by email jimnation2@gmail.com or in person. The price of the dinner will not be high (if anything) since Covid has been good to our coffers!
