Sunny periods with a steady breeze from the NW and slightly wooly greens made for challenging conditions. David Fineberg, in fetching check shorts and The Secretary, sporting matching striped knee supports, drove off first, having got out of their caddy car. They were followed by a posse of Crispies and mayhem soon followed! Dusky and The Sandman were seen shelling fellow players but, no harm done, all quietened down until the 19th. The Secretary, setting a pace no one could follow, duly won with 39 points from Oliver Dawson, Gary Wide (again off -1), Kevin Burt (who had recovered from playing with the Swifts last week) and Paul Godwin. Supporting royally were Malcolm Lawrence (who is suffering from being too successful), Ken Reid and Alan Hannigan (who needed all those crispy shots) and Ryan Aspinall who is shortly due for victory being on +6 now. For the diaries, the Crispy Dinner will be on Wednesday 27 November. |
