Particularly after Tuesday, the day was chilly with a capricious East Wind; the course had benefited from the recent rain with the greens gradually improving. In spite of the submission of some atrocious cards, 'Pep - the Atom Smasher - Symons' won with 36 points in a low scoring event. His playing partner, 'Tonger', was seen attempting an audicious 4 iron over an innocent looking young tree and failing miserably with Pep trying hard not to show some small amusement. Andy Smith came a credible second, even with a h/c of -1 together with Malcolm Lawrence and Chris Pitman who'd had Crispy shots (no longer!). Contributing to the crisps were Jeff Andrews, David Fineberg, Tim Nutall, Kevin Oxley and Martin Short. There are now 7 people who have fallen foul of the new rules on added Crispy shots. Once they have reached zero, the shot will be added. Your editor must apologise to those that he may have appeared to aim at but pleads LOFT. However he would like his ball back that mysteriously disappeared between the 5th and 7th fairways although realizes that what comes round, comes round! |
