Forecasting rain all day, it turned out to be mild, dryish with no wind and the greens are starting to true up nicely. In spite of all this, there was the rans and the also rans quite markedly with 40 points being the minimum to be on the winners' board. A spectacular 45 to win by Martin Short, then Chris Chetzoy lagging 4 shots behind with Owen Irish, Harvey Morris (carrying a -2 handicap) and finally Kelvin Oxley who had a hole in one (so the only two doesn't count). At the other end of the table were yours truly (must give the game up), Oliver Dawson, Martin Hogan (seen on the practice ground), Roy Miller, Andy Smith ... and welcomes to Key Pelow and Ken Reid. All in all, a remarkable day! |
