It was warm, cloudy with some sun; the course was parched but the greens played well; still lots of butterflies, gatekeepers and marble whites. Of note, Martin Short scored a 2 at the 17th and the hawthorn at the side of the green needs cutting down! Scoring was high with an average of 34 again so either handicaps are too high or we are getting better! Winner was Martin Hogan (playing off -1) with 43 points from J-J Poole (playing off a genuine 1.4) with 41 (really 39), Phil Contreras with 40 (really 39), Kelvin Snell 40 (really 39) and the editor (disappointed to be in the winnings!) - so the handicap system is intriguing. The generous ones were non-harmonious, dusty, the only newte, oxslip, atheist, the sharp-shooter and not-so-good. Please note that the Crispy away day is Friday 12 August with further details next week (see home page on the website). |
